My Approach to Helping
You have the innate ability to heal emotionally and physically. Natural healing and vitality take place when in a state of ease and regulation. Accumulated stress and trauma block this natural capacity to heal. You may notice that you've been able to rebound from difficulty or illness in the past when you’ve had the proper support and resources. If you’re looking to restore vitality or feel it for the first time, it’s possible. I use somatic experiencing to help you gently resolve trauma by tracking your experience and coming into self-regulation.
It’s not necessary to eliminate stress and anxiety to feel better; after all, anxiety and stress are normal emotions and motivate us to do all sorts of positive things. Anxiety and stress become problematic when we can’t settle after a rush of intense emotions, causing us to live in a constant state of fear, anger, or unease - also known as fight-flight-freeze.
Living in a survival state is not sustainable and leads to physical and mental health problems. Too much fight-or-flight sends you into freeze, causing feelings of powerlessness. We will work gently to resolve difficult parts of your story at an easy pace, allowing the survival response to be completed, restoring agency, vitality, and ease.
